Toronto Fashion week:Pink Tartan/Joe fresh

After a hectic week of seeing shows, I headed out to Pink Tartan/Joe Fresh….

I rushed to get there for 8pm with my FDCC Gold pass, which allows full access to all events and backstage. They decided to add a little Drama and not let anyone in that didn’t have a seat card. Yes that was a bit annoying but i really didn’t make a fuss for that foolishness, mostly because my stylist Snowdon and I decided …screw that mess stuff why not stay in the VIP lounge with Open BAR, sip wine and watch on Large Plasma screen by LG the title sponsor while we  figure out if we like the collection .

There were pieces that had my attention. The models selection was great.
When the show was over, everyone rushed to line up and get into the  VIP… wow what a stampede as I relaxed and watched.
I did the same thing when JOE FRESH started at 9:15pm
Very fun show as usual ..interesting styling but the shoes were giving hell! Some models kick them off  in mid-stride and picked them up on the way back down the runway. A buckle felt off as well.

Now, the after party held by NYOOD at 1096 Queen St West, walking distance from the tents was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! this year they didn’t serve delights but the music and the interesting blend of party goers cover that over for  sure.
We drank and had a blast, dancing till i thought, “ok, we are not going to be the last ones here”, and yes the music was that good. Snowdon positioned us at the most ideal place in the room, everyone had to pass us so it made for an awesome networking position.  It allowed us to speak to just the right people without chasing a single soul. I think we should do this at every Party!

Toronto Fashion Week: Day 2-Tues: Bustle Clothing+Stacey Mckenize

I was seriously disappointed that Andy The-Anh, did not have a runway show this season, it was in the Showroom… NO NO NO, I am not a happy camper. I watched it on screen but I was still unhappy.

That’s all I will say about that. Still love you Andy but….. grrrr

Bustle picked up my spirits and threw an exciting affair. Stacy Mackenize  at the center of the excitement. Bustle Knows how to select models!

She was serving Bloody Mary’s  to the front row … quite seductively of course and the crowd loved it. As you can see from the image. The clothing had spice as always.  She took a bite out of a man’s celery, and made him take a bite out of it before serving him his drink.

“Bustle Clothing was founded by Shawn Hewson (Designer, Judge on Project Runway Canada) and Ruth Promislow – two Bay Street lawyers.
Distributed nationwide, Bustle is a leading Canadian sportswear label that has become well known for its cheeky and sharply tailored leisure aesthetic; their sensibility has been described by the media as that of the eccentric British gentleman – a mix of Etro or Paul Smith and Dsquared2.”(quote from their facebook)

So if you are a jet setter then this is your brand… if you desire to live that life… start by dressing and finding ways to keep you in the the vibe of what you want.

Belstaff Fashion Show: Jarvis Church

I went off site to Ultra to see the Belstaff Show … I forget how many Blockbuster movie actors they have provided wardrobe for.  Tom Cruise in”The War of the Worlds”  and Leonardo DiCaprio in ” Aviator “.

Photo from: http://www.fabsugar.co.uk

The Models were all from Nam, ( http://www.namemodels.com ) and even though the stage was tiny, they worked it. I love Belstaff’s Pieces, I am not surprised the celebs love them so much.

I just want to write a bit about the  fact that the crowd at Ultra was super dry and it pissed me off. Jarvis Church was performing and to start off,  the intro of him was weak and silly, as if he was a new Artist and not a Canadian Music Icon.  Hello people,  the “Philosopher Kings”  – simply an amazing Band that has had major hits.
People were caught up into trying to be cool and couldn’t really listen.. or realize what a pleasure it was to see him  perform, Jarvis has a beautiful voice!!!! I didn’t care I stood up.
I don’t have a clear image ..which annoyed me more. But you get the feeling.

When is this city going to support their own, when are they going to stop being afraid to feel the music deep.  What happens is, too many look to the USA and get wrapped up into those artists and the reason why they are killin’ it  is cause they get their props, support…crowd Vibes from their own fans!!
I know i am ranting… but i was Pissed off.
Wake Up Toronto… Wake up!
