Young Talent: Azza El Siddique
Azza El Siddique
Meeting Azza was a delight… As a fashion Photographer I am always looking for fresh talent with an edge. I like to throw the unexpected into the editorial shoot I am focused on and this one was no different. The Stylists that I work with are pretty open to my suggetions like the mohawk.
They totally understand my diverse background in FASHION before I became a photograper. In my experience in fashion some people have a tendency of trying to get where they need to go, on your back without giving back! Azza is refreshing, and we hit it off long before we knew what each other did for a living. She was friendly and funny, and it was not because she wanted something from me.
Don’t let the young stunning face fool you, behind that fashionable blunt bob cut is a sharp mind and artistic edge. Wearable art is what she has her mind set on. I think of Hussein Chalayan and my main man: McQUEEN. Her vision is different but I thought those two giants are definately wearable art and very sculptured work. Just look at the jacket above. HOT!
Right now her focus is to get into texiles so she has more control over her fabrics and/or materials ( “very clever i think”) She is a student, but i am not sure the school is giving her the freedom she needs.
With a student like this there would be no way she could afford my rates… But being a Fashion Addict , an El Siddique dress would work just fine. She had already offered to make me something for the upcoming Toronto Fashion Week before we discussed shooting.
I just really want to give support to the right people, who have a humble attitude and a solid vision! Bonding with other artists is important.
Look out for this little PowerHouse … i will be doing more shoots and collaborations.
And hopefully featuring her in Stilo Magazine.
Who will i find next??????
Who has got the Heart for this business, the focus to stay true to themselves!
I know all about the distractions of life.
Email me if you’ve got the stuff, but prepare yourself for real feedback not fluff!
