Creative Shoots
Stilo Cover Shoot: ” the dreamier issue”
Stilo Covers are always a production. I am very particular about my selection of cover girls. I start with the theme, which in this case was
“The Dreamier Issue“Alice in Wonderland, Storybook, Dreams and Fairy tales.
I build my storyboard around that, which helps the Team, know what to do and which direction to go in. They get to blend their creative ideas and we develop something special. I have a very clear vision for what I want and what appeals to my mind’s eye.
The models selection is very important.. it starts in the eyes, she must have intensity, be striking. If you have to spend hours upon hours retouching a face then and only then can you truly understand the importance of great skin from a photographer’s point of view.
Sometimes I have to search through images that an agent might send or I might know instantly whom I picture in the character, kind of like a director and his actress. If a model can’t pull off the expression and visually convince me, she is the person for a day… it won’t work.
Well Vanessa was just that girl.. intense eye and the right look for the dreamy theme … a modern little twist on “Alice in Wonderland”.We almost didn’t have her for the shoot… but in the end it work out that she could come to the shoot and hang out .. since we have been friend for a while. I of course booked another model for that day but ended up shooting both Joy and Vanessa. So i still got my cover.
I am not the creative director for Stilo anymore and have since moved on to another chapter in my life! But i am proud of the work i have done there!

Peggi Lepage’s French Glam Project: VogueCover
I am look back on the Previous and sharing some of the Highlights..
Peggi(from PeggiLepage.com) and I, engaged in one of our meetings brought up the topic of a recent French Vogue cover. The article featuring Vanessa Paradis, inspired Peggi to put out a high style Christmas card 2010 and send it to all the agents world wide with which her models are regularly placed.
Considering the choices, it took some time to select a girl that best communicated the Christmas season in the form of fashion, though in time the decision was made,
Sparking the ignition to our seasonal “French Glam Project”.
We had our lady, and as I expressed to Adrian Carew, a man with strong presence in Hair and make up design was ready, the stylist was of most importance as Ariel was also doing a test for her book, so, the right pieces needed to be put together to pull off the right look.
A few calls and emails to Nicole Chisholm at Plutino Group returned the one we were looking for, a stylist by the name of Manj. New to Plutino Group (she later revealed to be a lot more seasoned than we expected) she had a background with high-end buyers and previous experience with Elle Canada Magazine.

My images from NYC :: Coney Island
I been slacking on the Blogging but i am trying to re-organize my time .Since i been focused on setting up my new Online store on Etsy.I am doing a bit of fine art photography these past few month as i continuously renew my vision for my work. The exhibition I did last summer really got my blood pumping. Fashion is always going to be a part of my life but it’s no longer the complete and sole focus in my creative minds eye. I am actually still using the influences on my fashion background to what i am shooting now. I think the direction i am taking will in turn have a great affect on my fashion images as well.
Also trying to manage my new obsession with Blythe Dolls.. I have always been drawn to Japanese culture quite a bit throughout my life and visually their artwork is like Eye Candy. A trip there is definitely on the goal list! More of that to come.
Here is work i shot in Brooklyn, NYC at the amazing coney island.

Alexander McQueen inspired Sneakers: Retro Revisted Exhibition at Arta Gallery
Retro Revisited Exhibition at Arta Gallery: June26th- July1st 2011
As of Late last year i have been exhibiting with Six Ah Wi Art Collective.
My series is called ” Kouture Kickz”
This conceptual idea is focused on the customization of Sneakers and taking it to the extreme first stage is a customized design based on the Alexander McQueen Collections but extending it to a sculptural direction, then second stage is photographing it and extending it into a digital collage to create the fantasy that McQueen had. This allows the viewer to see some of the influences a shoe creator/collector experiences and how it can get translated into a personalized shoe.
Above is a behind-the-scenes video that show my inspiration and individual pieces from Alexander McQueen’s Collection. In some way this video and this body of work is tribute to McQueen’s life and works that has challenged + strengthen my creativity .

Enjoy the video and stay tuned for part 2

Glossy Magazine: U.K. Cover
Glossy magazine: U.K. based magazine
I have been focused on getting published in European magazines. So i was very excited to have Glossy Magazine approach me to submit a shoot i did while working with my Miami team.
Glossy requested my images for a 5 page editorial but we got the cover as well!
model: Meijan Mock(Front Models at the time)
Hair: Fadhila Malki
makeup : Javier Martinez
Stylist: Page Haggerty
Store : thanks to “Ida and Harry” @ Fontainebleau
The Model is of course very important to me so I was delighted to work with Meighan who came highly recommended, by a trusted Designer.
Once i reviewed the models images from the agency, i was totally excited about her look … she had the eyes. And this detail is what caught the eye of British Editor-and-Chief, Tallulah Doherty. Our original background concept was a bit more dramatic but one little change to highlight the subject and there it was on the pages of a Glossy, my first European Magazine.
The day of the shoot proved long, but loads of fun.The mismanaged booking of shooting space 8am was not available till 10am. Heads rolled at the concierge, but we made the best of it. Even using the the side of a building to act as a gigantic soft-box. In order to manage the time properly we used a predetermined shot list. Further issues came in the night time when the mosquitoes loomed on us. I had to cover my entire body, wrap a scarf around my neck and remain focused on keeping the Model from being eaten alive. Couldn’t get bug spray all over the stylist’s clothes!
Meijhan was very focused and managed to not get distracted by the bugs. We completed the shoot on schedule.
Here are some of the Pages from the Editorial :
There are quite a few more images from the shoot that were not used but will be on my website .
This was published last year when i didnt have a blog then so i get to share it with you now before the year is complete.

Gwen-Peggi LePage-Model’sPortfolio
Looking Back :
I have been testing some of Peggi LePage’s Model and helping them with their Portfolio to go aboard.Peggi is a scout and mother agent , and in my opinion one of the most attentive I have seen in a long time.
Gwen has been sent to Shanghai and is doing really well. I have this thing for redheads.. I like the contrast between the pale skin and intense color of red hair. Gwen is a strawberry blond, kinda of red but I still love her. Her look is interesting and I think has quirky-like European feel.
I wanted to really impress a super girly look as well as Glamorous for the contrast of her book.
I am not sure if people didn’t think it couldn’t be done on her but I decided to bring that out.
Here is what came of our 2 shoots together in preparation for her trip to Asia….. in the gallery above.

Stilo Cover Shoot: Stacey Sexton from NAM models
Shooting the STILO magazine cover: “The Bolder Issue”
So in between all the craziness of moving back to Toronto from Miami.. I still have to shoot the cover for Stilo magazine. I didnt have much time. I was way behind!
casting the model is important.
For weeks i couldn’t find a girl that felt right for this Beauty story.
I of course trust my amazing makeup artist Roxanne DeNobrega… who was a solid team member when i was in Toronto before.
My ex- model agent Norwayne Anderson(NAM models) trusts my eye and gave me a super fresh face for this issue, he knows i love Red-heads. Bingo- you have Stacey… a young girl from Newfoundland. that right you heard me… way out there. (you will have to google it.)
In she walks with her Boyfriend behind her. What a delicate little face…i realize later on that she looks like Jessica Stam in the last shot of the day. We shot on Wed afternoon and then on Sunday to finish off the editorial. Wed was a cover try cause i wasnt sure if she could carry the weight of this concept.
The issue is called “The Bolder issue” and I wanted Roxy to apply different kinds of metal to the skin illustrating the season’s spikey shoes and silver zippers. I saw the McQueen show and of course it drove me metal-crazed. I look to him first every single season.(I can’t wait to meet him)
I went to the hardware store for inspiration of course and felt like i was in wonderland of textures. Roxanne being our amazing beauty editor on this story , came with me to build and conceptualize.
I had metal crawling up stacey’s neck and almost into her mouth. It almost looked like it was taking over her face and she was turning into Android.
“IRON MAIDEN” is the name of the editorial that came out on Sunday which was day 2 of shooting. We needed to flush out more looks and once i realize Stacey could express the right emotion for each look i booked her 4day later. Don’t let the delicate face and the very young age fool you.
This little girl has got layers.
This is from shooting the first day..a Cover try became a absoulte! I need the needed more.Cant show you more till end of the week
